Default BTCC 14 year olds

just seen them on tv didnt realise there were kids of that age racing in cars like that, how would you get your kid into that sort of thing? would it cost? alot or what does anyone know?

im sure its gonna cost around 30k a year to do that which is why most kids are karting and the PROPER rich kids are racing about in 20k ginettas

would LOVE for my little one to get into it though

well was just thinking i would have loved to do that at the age of 14 so why not start looking into it / saving so that my kid has the choice when ive got one

go for it but think of carting first as its smaller, cheeper and just as much fun for a kid

Think Lewis Hamilton was sponsored by Mercedes since he was like 7 (or somewhere around a very young age) and still Karting, they basically paid for it all I believe, and he moved up the classes when they wanted him to.

Thats the basic story I've heard though.

If you need to save you cant afford it. The Ginettas are Ł42,500 + VAT for the car and a years entry.

Where can you get your kid into karting at any early age, everywhere ive seen have age limits of at least 8 years of age before they will even entertain you.

there is always second hand cars available,,,, kids do grow up into new classes but its still gonna be a 40k a year to fund it i would have thought

i wanted to get Elise into carting as she loves cars,,,,, looked at the prices and the time needed,,,,,, as a compromise i got her a Wii with mario cart and a wheel,,,, which anoyingly shes very good at,,,, ah well aint her fault she has poor parents

you can start racing karts from the age of 9, and go from their.

i started when i was 9, my dad done everything he could to keep me in it but even karting was expensive. we used to turn up at the track with the kart in the back of he's xr3i and set up the kart on a black and decker work bench proper shoestring budget, even used to rummage through the skip at the end of the day for tyres!

as chip said you need lots of money to get anywhere in a series like that
