Gas fitter, house frickin destroyer more like!
We are having gas central heating fitted this week. Almost finished and I've started putting the furniture back in its rightful place. Doing so I've noticed all sorts of cockups through out the house.
1. Cracked a skirting board in an upstairs bedroom that is nowhere near where the radiator is.
2. Boot scuff marks all along the walls that I can't get off.
3. Pipework outside on display in the kitchen when I specifically asked for it all to be hidden, and it was doable that way too.
4. A frickin brass coloured tea cosy shaped guard on the new flue outside when I asked for a dark metal one. I'd even sourced it for them, they decided not to use it.
5. A delay on the bay window radiators because the guy is having trouble bending them because they are convection units and its apparently more difficult. They've known for months this work was planned, why not get them done in advance and store them FFS
They are getting a letter with picture evidence of the damage. I'm inclined to ask for money off as its going to cost me a few hundred quid to put the things right and working away, I can't realistically ask my wife to do it so its handyman time
. I leave on Sunday and they are telling me it can't be finished till next week. Thats not why I took leave to spend all the time babysitting these twats and fixing their mistakes
Am I right to moan or should I put it down to bad luck and just crack on. It just really pisses me off when people do half a job and don't respect other people's property

I think you're well within your rights to moan and hold some of the money back until you're satisfied with the job. You gave them instructions which they didn't query at the time and then they never followed them.

Its a local company here in Middlesbrough. We've had good recommendations from friends about them, and to be fair the quality of the install has been good, its just the little things like cleanliness and care that differentiates average from very good, and so far they've just been average.
Don't really want to name them as it would be unfair for me to slate them by name before the job is fully completed and I get a satisfactory resolution to the above.

hold all the money back,my mate paid and held 3grand back he wound up in court having to pay then 3grand and their costs, the solictior said he would have had a well better chance if he had not payed at all.
When we got new central heating fitted in our old house the fuckers that did it made a right fuckin mess of our house. What topped it all of was they broke our smoke detector off of the roof and didn't even tell us. Never noticed for 2 days that it was gone till it didn't go of at tea time lime it normally did. Eventually found it stuffed in the back of our sons clothes cupboard. Still can't understand how they managed it to this day.
