Default S2 starter motor

Hi got probs with my wiring on the starter motor! It it all crispy where the exhaust heat has got to it. I replaced the wire as a bodge for now but now I have problems where it clips on to the starter motor (push fit over the thread). My car don't turn over now unless I turn the wire a few times and it pisses me off.

Has any one else had / got this problem and how can I sort it??

Thanks

it should have a heat sheild to protect it from the exhuast/turbo. I know this doesnt really help to fix your problem. I had a dodgy one on an xr2 i owned, i had to lie down under the car and wiggle the wire to start the car. A new starter cured it.
