Default 2wd pick up pipe

Ive bought a rebuilt 200 block thats fitted with the 4x4 sump, its going in my 2wd so will need the necessay bits.

Ive bought a 2wd big wing sump, will i need to change the oil pick up pipe to a 2wd one or are they the same ?

cheers paul

As said you will need a 2wd pick up, different shapes due to the sumps, so pick up has to go with sump.

Stick with the 4x4 pump its a better design, all you need to do is tweek the 4x4 pick up pipe very slightly so that it will fit the 2wd sump.

I didn't know that, I just had a look at one, see what you mean.
Nowt wrong with a decent ie much cheaper 2wd pump, been around 40 years something must be right, my new one cost me £24.

I got mine from the machine shop I use, these are the same ones they use themselves, they check EVERY one dimensionally and every other way, and warranty the engines they build/supply with the same pumps, been going 54 years so somethings right, they don't do mail order, just pm me if wanted.
They use their own engine dyno's and chassis dynos, I spoke to them about oil pressure and was told pretty much what I suspected on most 60 psi is more than enough.

Actually the 4wd pump and pickup will fit the 2wd sump (been running it like that for a while) ... BUT it sits fairly close to the bottom of the sump, so after a while I chose to go back to the 2wd setup....but it actually worked

well .. as it was the engine was a new rebuild one and I had ordered it with a 4wd HP oil pump and pick up, but when running I was a bit concerned as the pressure it showed was around std pressure. I dont know much about the mecánical stuff but I thourght that it was due to the short distance between the pickuppipe and the sump ... so I got my hands on a new HP 2wd pump and put it in with the 2wd pickup and bang ... pressure was as expected ... BUT if it was the distance between the P/U pipe to sump or the company who did the engine just put in a std pump ...I dont know .. but I felt that I would be better of safe than maybe sorry ... sort of speek ..
