I spent 3hours this afternoon taking the head off of my 2wd sapphire cossie as i had lost water from the header tank into the sump and it started on 3 Cylinders in a morning. I took the head off and the YB0611 head gasket looked like it sealed all round on all surfaces, didnt look like it had failed at all, so I wanted to know where else on the engine might oil and water mix?
Could the turbo waterways crack (its a brand new turbo, done less than 100miles on it), there is an oil stain at the bottom of the housing though which is odd?? or could the oil modine behind the oil filter be knackered or?? Any ideas. I ran out of daylight but have yet to turn the pistons over and check the bores for cracks, the pistons have no rusty water stains or such like, the combustion chamber was just covered in oil too which is a little worrying too??

Had this with a cracked block, but that was on a Di transit (changed the bloody head twice and the gasket 4 times before i figured it out)
More likely to be head cracked though, get it pressure tested.

I bought a "brand new" turbo a few years ago and had the same problem, replaced the head gasket twice, drove myself crazy for a week. Turns out the center section of the turbo had a crack in the waterway causing it to allow coolant to get into the oil. The way I found this out was to dissconnect the water lines to the turbo and run the car for a few minutes. I hope this is your problem and not a cracked block/head.

Seems the oil modine is fine, I just plumbed it into mains pressure and thats not leaking at all. I dont want to put it back on the car though, anybody doing anything different with their oil and water ways, I think PON did away with his Modine but i cant find it in a search? I had a look at the bores and they are clean, oiled and crack free where I can see so its time for the turbo to be checked and then maybe a bottom end rebuild??
