The switch should closes circa 93 degrees and operates just a few degree span, you have it correct otherwise if you use the standard switch which closed at 86 degrees this suffers with a heat sink effect with an alloy rad and then the fans don't switch off at all.

Hi I have a pro alloy 50mm rad on my car with an MSD uprated fan switch. According to my temp gauge the fans on the car cut in at about 98 degrees and then go out when the temp drops to 90 degrees. Has been like this for over a year now and have never had any problems.
Even 100C is nothing engine temp wise for the fans to cut in, I set mine to cut in at 95C and out at 92C, will set slightly higher in the winter so I get a better heater when sat in traffic!!
