yup, it's going to be a bit of an amalgamation of all sorts of ford sites with each one getting it's own little space

think of it as the rsoc with them as the main head honcho's but with each individual region having it's own little club members and stuff

i can appreciate there trying to broaden the horizens mate, and wish them all the luck in the world, but when you turn to an ALL ford site, you got this place for competition, and well, thats not going to be easy.

if they can keep hold of there current members, and bring in more, it will make them bigger obviously, but ive got a funny feeling that some may move to other mondeo clubs/forums, as MEG always has been a mondeo site, thats how it started.

we all know how far down the ford list the mondingo comes, which makes me think if they do get a big inlux of the members, the site that was built by mondeo owners, will push the people who made the site what it is, down the pecking order.

So do i mate, genuinely, i have good wishes to all ford related sites, wether it covers one model, or all. its just i can understand that it may push a few of the mondy owners noses out of joint if they start to become second rate citizens, on a site they helped build, which would be my primary concern if i owned/ran the site.

the mondy forum i help run is only very small compared to MEG, but we pride ourselves on being one of only a handful of mondy forums.

 

to be honest, i mainly use meg due to the sheer number of geeks and nerds there who know everything there is to know about mondeo's in general, so if they lose them they will be very difficult to replace

but on the other hand, several of them peeps also post here

Why did you set up a Scottish named site when you're from england?

 

i didnt chop, two other guys from scotland did, but they have both moved onto imprezas now, so me and a few others are left to run it, although the two who started it are still around and do there bit maintaining the club/forum, and still own it. i have got a few new members from the north east to join up, so its a scottish based forum, but we also have a north east england section, and we have other members from all over england, and even some members from europe.

its not a big forum in the essence, but were all a pretty close nit group.

 

In the end you always end up requiring the services of a geek or nerd mate, some of them just hide it well by wearing contacts and lower waisted trousers

its never intended to be competition against PF (if it was, at least meg is moderated and aint full of RS rednecks and trolls, although it does have V6 rednecks!). anyone who wants to set up a rival PF site could call it "we hate fords apart from cossies dot com"

it has very high google ratings, its been on the go for 10 years. other mondeo forums come and go, one of them in particular cant keep members for long due to many in-house issues. doesnt matter what supposition people from other mondeo sites come up with, none of them have (and never will have) those google ratings.

meg decided to expand/diversify because the mondeo marque and its profile has gone right down the toilet big time, best to act now rather than wait a few years til its gone down to the tin-pot levels of other mondeo sites.

back in the mk1/mk2 days there was alot of fooking nicely modded cars on the site. since the mk3 took over, modifiers and enthusiasts of them has become a fucking joke so now mondeo show stands are pathetic. look how dead mondeomania has become. there is only a handful of proper mondys in the UK now since the dregs and halfords chavvy's give them such a bad name.

it used to be a cracking club/site but it has gone off the boil the last year or so.

poor diddums has obviously never used a different website before and hasnt got 2 minutes to spend to work it out - fucking pathetic.

 

It went downhill rather fucking rapidly when they messed around with the areas on MEG. Havent been there since I was banned for daring to start another site that was aimed at catering for any car but they still saw it as a threat!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

ah that old chestnut. admin was quaking in its boots when it saw that particular spinoff site!

"meg will be dead in a year" is what we have been hearing from a handful of individuals who dick around on the forum for donkeys years.

the mondeo scene is so poor nowadays i cant see there being any mondeo owners in a few years time, never mind any who would want to talk about them on a forum.

 

so far i have worked out that most of the topics are from 2008

and when someone figures out the best way to navigate abou the place and stops repeating the same questions time and again, i'll have another go

but i'm just pee'd off because i was in the middle of several different things and then it shut down and now i can't remember where i was and i'm a goldmember and you drive a mk1

 

not that i'd want to be associated with "nerds" but if i had the choice, the meg nerds would be my brand of nerd to hang out with

give it a couple of weeks and all the issues will be ironed out, everyone will be used to it, and it will be yesterdays news.

every time theres a software upgrade on any forum then some problems will happen. the techy IT geeks on meg will have it sorted in no time.

i've been in the middle of quite in-depth projects in the past, right in the middle of a forum upgrade and needing to refer to various things on there and its buggered me up a bit but hey-ho its not a government department whereby the site owner is duty bound to provide all the info 24/7.

could be alot worse, theres another mondeo forum which periodically goes tits up and loses ALL its site content and deletes all its members by accident

 

Sounds like your fed up with the whole mondeo scene phil, dont wether what you posted was meant to sound bitter, but it did.

as for its not meant to be in competetion with Pf, wether its meant to be or not, it is, there both FORD sites. when MEG was competing with the other mondeo sites, it was by far the biggest, but when you compare it with ford sites, its in its infancy, and has got some BIG names to compete with.

as i said, i wish them all the best, i really do, but when you stand back and look at the bigger picture, its a very ballsy move, because there are a lot of big ford forums out there, and although branching out may seem the obvious thing to do, it may not be the best.

Nope, started a forum, mentioned it to a couple of people and got banned. Not only myself but another member who started it with me was banned as well!!

It was a complete and utter joke. I could understand if it was meant to compete with MEG but it wasnt as it was open to ANY car in the South East.

Even had members on there swearing at my children via email.

Glad not to be part of it anymore. As Phil says there were a few nice Mondies around a few years back but now every tom dick and harry as them.

 

i dont think its a case of every tom dick and harry having them, the thing i find jeff, is the decent MK1'S & MK2'S are few and far between these days, a lot are rusty. what you have to take into account is there getting old, even the youngest MK2's are knocking on for 10 years old, and people dont want to put the money into them, especially as most need welding and paint.

there doesnt seem the interest in MK3's, there was in the MK1's & MK2's. with the MK3's, its either lower it, put 220 rims and blackeyes on the lower spec one's, or buy a 220, lower it, put an exhaust and filter on it, and leave it like that.

ive had two MK1's, a MK3, and now a MK2, and i hosnestly prefer the older one's, the MK3 drove well, dont get me wrong, but i just prefer MK1's and MK2's.

 

Thats pretty much what the members said when the change was announced but the comments where ignored then removed?? The biggest Mondeo site has now become just another Ford site.

 

thats was just my gut instinct mate, i know they have had a lot of members on MEG that put in a lot of work over the years, and made it into the biggest mondeo forum there is/was, and if i put myself in there shoe's, even if the forum/club was in decline, and something needed to be done for the future, i dont think id be overly happy, because as i said, when you look at the bigger picture, you may well end up alienating the people, who made the club what it is/was. but obviously more important people than me, have made the decision, for the good/future of the club, and fingers crossed, it works out for everyone involved.

i dont even post on MEG, but started this thread as i was genuinely interested as to how the members had taken it, and what peoples opinions were. mondeo sites are few and far between, and when the biggest goes, it makes you think.

to be fair chop, in the earlier days, i used to get the impression if you didnt have a cossie, you were a second rate citizen, but then i realised, that wasnt the case, the cossie owners were not in a more privileged position, it was just my jealousy making me thing that

jeff you are forgetting i was there and remember it full well what happened because you become one of the biggest trouble causers the forum had ever seen, and being such a big site, that is saying something!

your constant bitching at mods/admin, and theft of a set of fogs from one of the meg staff didnt go down well (some on there said you could start an argument in a room with nobody else in there). you knew that PT-ing other members to join your new site breached the site rules, i even warned you not to do it because meg had banned others in the past for it (i even suggested using MSN or email to contact potential new members) - yet you went ahead and did it anyway giving them the excuse they were looking for to ban you permanently. i even heard that you rang the police afterwards reporting your forum ban as a criminal offence! they always knew SECC was no threat and never would be.

i thought it was a real shame, we didnt want you to go but could see both sides of the arguement

all best forgotten now, put it behind you. please dont go bullshitting about meg and your reason for being banned on big forums like PF
