it was a diy job but done by a garage in nottingham r & m motors theres abit of a story behind the van ill explain at a later date it was orrignaly red and covered in dints on the rear pannles which have been filled and twatted in matt until it gets resprayed my plans for the engine for now are 2.0 silver top with some bike carbs using the 1.1 management just basic spark and 4-2-1 manifold also was toying with the idea of two side exit exhaust or mounted like on a artic would be very different

not rely touched the escort in the past few months so thought i would get stuck in and get her finished so i started sorcing the parts i needed
ended up buying a new front end wings fusebox repair pannle rear arch repair pannles new door's and a new genuine ford weather strip just need another if anyone know where i might be able to sorce one?

got some morrettes chears redrs

needed some new shockers as the old ones were rotten found theses on ebay at a bargin £15 posted

sanded back black factory etch and resprayed in some quality etch primer

so i start to strip the front end armed with a faily new grinder only for it to pack in 5 minuited into the job clutch started smoking and finaly decided to die so managed to borrow one from a pall.

also boughted some brand new wheels for the beast abit of a impulse by i seen them and just had to have them any recomendation's for tyres

mmmmmmm, nice wheels!scraping underseal sucks.i used to be into escort vans, had 2,1st 1 i fitted an mfi engine and running gear, recaros, all the ghia electrics inside then hit a porsche and it caught fire.burnt to a crisp,2nd 1 i fitted an mfi engine and an early xr2 carb, painted pearlescent white, lowered, recaros, big stereo in the back, cant really remember how i crashed it as i was knocked out,but a wet corner and an embankment ended that 1's life.rolled it about 3 times and there wasnt a straight panel left on it.

looks like a good project love the wheels, but please dont put those style exhausts on it. just run a traditional 3' tip mongoose or similar out the back.

ahh, youre going for the bantam look.the roof wouldnt be that hard depending on your metalwork skills.but getting the bulkhead and window right will be the most awkward.i always wanted to put truck style pipes on my hilux but sold it before putting the v8 in it.its good to see someone thinking outside the box and doing something different!

thanks for the comments lads gives me abit more motivation to get it finished and i was thinking for the exhaust 4 branch manifold where it splits into 2 have two straight pipes then 90 bend the exit to roof so 2 cylinders per can i dont know how this will perform and sound but i have a feelin it will sound pritty mental also not 100% about the back window.

ok so stumbled on a thread light night about relocating fuse box and hiding wiring loom and like the thought of it it’s a fairly cheap mod just abit time consuming so me being a total retard misinterpreted what was to be done and chopped the wires to the engine side of the loom from the fuse box anyway about 3 hours later soldered and heat shrunk my mistake back together

got some stick on focus style side repeater’s for the front will put them on the front bumper at some stage

Here’s a pic of the stripped out engine bay

The paint job isn’t the best i wasn’t rely planning on a pro finish bit of a taxi spesh paint job but the shine will come out after a flat and buff

What do you lot think about the morrets sprayed matt black yes or no Also managed to delaminate the windscreen when removing so now in need of new window and seal[IMG]
