advice on tapping noise

Default advice on tapping noise

i have just purchased a very clean escort mk3 cabrioletits a 1.6i cvh but its making a tapping noise from rocker cover
i dont no very much about engines so all help is welcome i have checked oil its fresh and clean
car does not smoke at all and runs great but tapping noise is annoying me im only guessing but is there hydrolic lifters or tappets that need changing is this something i can do my self or am i on the wrong track???

would thicker oil be the way or would that make it smoke??

Any garage will be able to adjust them mate, it's very common on leggy CVHs.

Very easy diy job as jobs on cars go, may also be very worn cam, they suffer badly from this also.

Hi pal ye id say worn tappet u have check ur cam for wear when replacing tappet try get a kit if u are changing oil full synthetic is ok 5w30 or moderate climate 10w40 semi synth.
