I'm looking at a T5-R that my mate wants to buy at the weekend and I am wondering if anyone is clued up on these?
Are there any common faults that happen on them? Just generally want to know what to look out for on them.
Thanks in advance!

I don't think there are too many faults to look for to be honest mate. Have heard of MAF sensor issues, and the odd head gasket popping, but if it's been well serviced and looked after, they're pretty decent old buses.
I had a T-5 and it was wicked

yeah look at one that doesnt have the T5 in the title and find an "R"
soggy suspension, the rears have self leveling and are a expensive fix. bootlid likes to rust under window and around lock. warped brakes very common.

Agreed, the manual R is the best of the bunch, with 250bhp, 250lbs/ft and an LSD as standard.
The older T5-R was 240bhp (used an over boost function, unlike the R which just had a bigger turbo), and had no LSD.
Cosmetically, the T5-R has five spoke wheels and the 850R has seven spokes, also had a slightly nicer interior.
