Ok, so...
I read a while back about Andrew G using wet weather slicks on his monster Focus when he went drag racing at Gatebil, from all accounts they hooked up like crazy and the car ran incredibly fast.
Given that wets are incredibly soft, I would have thought that they would grip really well, even though they have the wrong sidewall design for drag racing, on a road car at the drag strip.
Obviously a full drag tyre would be better, but these are pricey and used slicks can be gotten fairly cheaply and might make a good alternative if your on a budget.
Given the short amount of time a drag race lasts, I cant see the tyre over heating and falling bits unless you do some huge stonking burnout and kill it completely before you even get to the line.
I dont think they'ed be as good as proper drag tyre, which are designed for the job, but surely they'ed be better than road tyres and the likes of 888's?
Your thoughts....
Cheers

yes, soft tyre gives plenty of initial grip
we ran some pirelli rally slicks, in 7 compound which is medium, and they gripped well
although 888's still were within .2 second to 60mph
and warm race slicks were another .2 quicker giving a 2.63 - 60mph
