I've changes my STD rad for an alloy item made by xpower, I want something that cools better than that heavy, badly made piece of pig iron. So which rad has the most efficient core and also what price and weight are they? Is the Spec-R anygood, I know their cooler is awesome

I'm drawn towards the pro alloy item to be honest, they look right and the quality is usually good, far better than my xs-power item anyway. Have magazines ever tested rads back to back?
the new spec r rad is superb mate. mine works soo well the fans take longer to come on than my old pace one. the detail compared to airtec is lightyears appart.i have one so does rod, ade and couple of others. i cant reccommend it enough. i do also run with the new pre rad too. spec r are at ford fair if you want to see rad on my car for yourself

you probbaly wont need an upgrad over standard on most cars.
one things for sure, throw that xpower peice of crap in the bin, i'll put money it it being significantly worse than standard!

i run aitec rad amd cooler,
bit heavy and not the pretiest,
but work brilliant and very good value,
obviously differant league to pro-alloy and spec-r etc
but depends what you want it for realy,
if its just for performance then unless your going mental
airtec etc is fine
but if you want it to be bufty as well or going monster power
then best go with the more expensive options

I run a standard rad with a pre cooler - i have never had a problem with it even sat ticking over for 90 minutes in the tailback to get into Ford Fair last year.
I also have an Airtec 70mm intercooler - yep it's heavy, welds are fine and it is proven to keep the ACT's right down at 35psi so why pay twice the money for weight and looks - seems silly to me.
If i had to upgrade i would go for a 60mm Airtec
