Default 2wd thermostat housing corroded, options please?

My thermostat housing has corroded and is badly pitted and leaks against the head and inside where the thermostat sits so it constantly leaks water through. What are my options, can it be refaced or are new items available? Also why is there a take off after the thermostat what can/was that one for, mine is blanket off while the first one before the stat still feeds the turbo.
Could the second be used as a return from the turbo so it is cooled before returning to the header tank? I've got a post turbo cooler but I was curious

Burtons do repro ones, the very early ones were two pipe on the side, the extra pipe was used when refilling the coolant to bleed air out, but was not needed so deleted on the later 2wd ones.
There is always the option of a custom made one if you prefer, or mod a std pintoi one to fit easy enough with a bit of jiggling and welding.
