Fronts would probably be a deffinate no go. Rears will go at a push. Was gonna go for it on mine but didn't want to fork out for the wheels and not be happy with it.
If it is purely for show then i'd go 8 front and 9 rear without a doubt.
It will be tight though. I fitted et15 8x18's on mine and they were touching the arches.

Would love to do this to mine,9x18 et35 with 235/35/18 tyres,so as to aid traction, but dont want to buy wheels and tyres then find they dont fit, going to do my rear arches next winter so was going to roll and pull them at same time

Ive had my arches cut back bigtime & the biggest ive been able to get on the back is 235/40/18 X 8" this gives 99% clearance even on vicious cornering. The 225/40/19 X 8" used on Topspeed runs cannot be used on the road as it rubs bigtime. My car is standard ride height. Dont consider moving from 17" on the front it destroys the handling a bit stupid when lots has been done to suspension etc. Been their done that.
Dont put looks over correct handling & correct geometry.

18 vs 17 - offset like for like - tyre width like for like - tyre diameter like for like - what geometry changes? I understand 18" tyre may be a rougher ride (via less cushioning - or better description) but do not understand geometry changes? And handling going shit?
Someone please school me!
Sorry Jim for hijack!!
i dont drive my saff that hard but i honestly couldnt tell any difference from 17 to 18s..ill be trying wider rear tyres on mine as the arches are rolled now... was only on changing the hubs for 3door ones i noticed it change.. how come people dont say not to go 18s on an escort cosworth..?
Im meaning going away from standard road height, their seems to be a trend for lowering just look at the pictures posted on this forum, sorry i didnt make that clear. I had to raise mine 30mm when i first purchased it.
ok may see if they go on !
i love rwd saffs with fat rubber on the back over hanging the wheels a bit and slightly stretched the fronts just soooo cool !
will see what i can get from local tyre place cheap enough as i will no doubt get through them lol !

do you know what offset mate ?
and are you on standard beam ?
as i will have a 6 degree and the wheels go up dead straight where std get alot of camber so helps the wheels miss !

ET38.
Standard beam and if the wheel went straight up it still wouldnt touch the outer arch. The only part its ever rubbed on is the inner arch when 3 up and with the boot full.
Mine only on Konis and Ahmed track specs, i guess yours will run coilovers so wont squat that much. The picture above is on boost in 4th.
I also ran the same size tyres on a 7.5 rim and they were fine. Tbh if i could i would go for 7.5 front and 8 rear.

Mine are 8 x 17 all round. 235/40/17 at the rear and 205/40/17 at the front. 888 tyres though so come up much wider than they are badged. The front actually measure 212 wide so its almost 215/40/17.
