Well, I have taken the plunge and hopefully going to do the car justice. Heres some pics of what I have let myself in for
. Not alot needed from the chassis point of view as its pretty mint, with just surface rust here and there. Planning on starting with the underside, then getting the bodywork sorted then onto the engine. Hopefully have it all done for the end of the year.

Well started with removing all the underside stuff, rear beam, diff and suspension removed after work. All going off to the powder coaters on Monday. Next Job on monday is to strip the underside, and get some POR15 on there ready for paint. Hopefully the other stuff will be back in a week or so ready to put back together. Then start the front underside.
Two very small patches where jacking point has been bent, otherwise sill is rot free.

This sill is pretty much spot on

Rear beam removed and petrol tank etc. Did have some more pics of the beam strippedf, but my phone has decided not to save them.

I might be wrong but isn't this the car that was won in a competition or something years ago, just the reg number seems familiar..i remember seeing the car that i am on about at the ford spares centre near dunston with something wrong with its engine.

Not sure, it came without an engine as my mate bought the lump and ran it in his 3dr for a while. I think it used to run 400bhp before the engine was removed. I bought it as a complete car minus the engine. Interior is mint. It looks rough on the pics, as its just the shell, but everything is there its just been removed and stored in my mates loft to keep it good until complete.

Engine wise, Im not going crazy, would be happy with a good solid stage 1 engine. Aiming for a minter rather than cutting corners to get big bhp as my money wont stretch to both

The Sapphire Cosworth is a car I have always had on my 'wish list' and hopefully this will turn out the way I want it and keep it for many years.
My main car is a 07 Focus ST225, but all my mates have RS's so thought I had better join the club.

Tank stripped and painted.

Exhaust bracket on the rear beam has rotted and snapped. Think this may be common as it had been repaired previously. Cut out the knackered part and welded a new piece in place before the powder coating takes place.

The beam and suspension stuffs off for powder coating so thought I would make a start on some other stuff. Ordered new wheel bearings and driveshaft boots.
Driveshafts stripped and painted in prep for new boots.

Car came with Scorpion exhaust but was covered in what looked like cement amongst other things. Still needs some finishing paste but is already loads better.

Cleaned up the seats tonight. Look brand new with only very slight wear on drivers back support.
Undecided if i should put the original cloth in or not yet.

I go through phases of preffering cloth or leather. But with the leather being so good I'd fit it as good leather interiors are getting a little hard to come by

Thats what I was thinking too. Ive had a qoute of Ł100 to recolour the part of the backrest that has faded. Think it would be worth it, just to make it 100%

Just got back from Holiday and the rear end parts have just come back from the powder coaters
. The springs look better than new, and well happy with the finish on the rest too.
