Default s2 rs ruff idle / missfire

Hey people

my s2 escort rs turbo has an idle fault.
i am at my wits end with this fault, basically when you start the car first thing when the cold
start is on it ticks over perfect when that comes off it keeps cutting out unless you keep the revs
up for a few minutes then it heats up it ticks over fine but has a bad missfire.... drives fine though.

so far i have changed
dizzy, dzzy cap, rotor arm, fuel filter, metering unit, spark plugs, leads, air filter.

oh and this is just started the past couple of weeks.

any ideas ....

Did you set the timing after changing the Dizzy and are all the parts you listed new? If not could well still be any of them!
Also have you tried adjusting the idle speed and/or mixture, and checked all your hoses for air leaks?

yeah the dizzy was marked, all the parts were new apart from the metering unit
but that had no effect, ave adjusted the idle speed not sure if the mixture is
out as the plugs are a nice chocolate colour, and i thought ifthere was an air leak
it wouldnt start.......

Idle mixture will have little bearing on the colour of the plugs specially if it's a little lean, a small air leak will make it idle rough, a larger airleak will make it stall.

YIPEE problem solved, turns out it was the dump valve must have been allowing
air in.

Nice mate!
They are often the cause of an air leak on MFI.
