im thinking of changing the engine in the wifes fiesta 1.4 titanium to the 1.6 unit as there are quite a few tuning goodies for this engine and nothing for the 1.4,its an 09 model,i dont want to part ex the car [although it would be easier lol] my question is what parts are different? i shouldnt think anyones done this conversion but obviously ill need the engine/ecu/exhaust/cat pipe, will the orig clocks still work or are they coded to the ecu like a lot of things are nowadays? are the brakes and g/box/drive shafts the same? with it being such a new car its hard work trying to find anything out so i thought you guys may be able to help??
hate to say it but with such a new car you should have bought a 1.6 to start with.
however i believe a lot of the anciliaries like gear box zorst etc to be the same and therefore the block and head should hopefully drop straight in. if injectors dont need coding or anything else on the new engine for that matter you'll prob find its easier and no more expensive to have it remapped rather than try farting about with a 1.6 ecu and getting things coded.

hadnt thought of that option,as far as i can tell the g/box is the same so i assume the driveshafts will be,the brakes seem to be the same on both models as well, not sure on the loom/connections though?

its the zetec s vct, the mountune conversion is hopefully on the cards when its all done
unfortunately i cant just have the orig ecu remapped as the car is in daily use so id only have 3 days or so to sort it and no way of getting it to any tuners,so it looks as though id need the 1.6 ecu as well

wouldnt you be running into problems with locks and imobiliser if changing the ecu??
there are mobile tuners you could book to come round on the final day...if they can hack the ecu that is.

Are you sure you would need an ecu? In the case of the mk6 preface lift you could use the 1.4 ecu, not to sure on the mk7 as not had a look at one.
If the mk7 is VCT only then i'd say an ecu change is needed.

as far as i can make out ill need the chip from the ignition key of the donor along with the ecu to enable the immobiliser to work so thats no problem, ive managed to find the g/box ratios for the 1.6 just to make sure theyre the same but i cant find a thing on the 1.4 ones
to compare
i plan to find a written off donor and take the engine/ecu/clocks/ign key chip all from the same car, just need to confirm if i need the box as well??

The 1.4 will also be IB5 box, maybe diffrent ratios though. Dosen't need to be a Fiesta for the engine a Focus will also do again as it has the same engine.
The MK7 Zetec S is TI-VCT it now comes under the Duratec family as well, I to think you would need the ECU and corrosponding key(s).
