Escort cosworth 909 shell for sale. £600 (Was £650)

There are a few flakey bits that have started in the garage since it was stripped….surface rust (wire wheel in a drill would fix it up easy), nothing a rub down and respray wouldn't sort out, i've tried to photo all the bad bits. The shell is stitch welded all over and is genuine 909 with a date stamp of of xx/xx/92 near the bonnet catch area, no numbers stamped on the shell anywhere except the date stamp near the catch . Has a plate for the exhaust to go over the beam like the proper rally cars but this seems to have been beaten flat with a hammer in an effort by previous owner to fit rear seats :S.
I've photo'd the corners of the old roofskin, there is still some residual skin left in the corners as whoever fitted the sunroof skin brazed the corners (will come off in 2 mins with a torch or grind off). The shell has x4 good wings which have all been arch rolled at some stage. The shell also has the remains of an old cage with bars poking through to the strut tops (were cut off in i/s of bulkhead…my plan was to mate a new cage to this and sleeve it to join). There were chassis engine mounts installed in the past as the plates are still there on the inner front wings. There are Kevlar under body panels to protect the rear of the floor from pebbledash that so many of these 909s suffer from. The cage mounting points are all in place and the rear turrets have the proper strengthening plates on them.

At the minute the shell has x2 doors, front and rear lights, heat shielding and matting in the transmission tunnel and Kevlar underbody floor plates (to stop gravel rash presumably). The underside of the car is perfect, no scabs anywhere and it has been undersealed previously.
The plate in the bulkhead where the pedalbox mounts too has been butchered in the past, I have a laser cut replacement for a bias pedalbox that can come with the shell (x2 separate master cyl cutouts) or you could quite easily repair this plate to fit the std stuff back on it again.
The shell has genuine skirts fitted atm, I’m planning on removing these as they’re not included in the price but am open to leaving them on if the buyer wants me too and we can agree a price.
It’s also got an escos steering columb fitted but will come with no front end rolling gear (stripping to sell separately)…so you get a shell on a bread trolley essentially, will need trailering away.

Worth what I’m asking just for the wings/scrap value….if I don’t get my asking price I’ll have to break out the plasma, rip off the wings and save them for a rainy day….I don’t want to scrap a useable cheap shell for someone though so please take it off my hands as it’s majorly in the way!!!! I need this gone in the next fortnight so please bear this in mind….also 1st come 2st served, I will not save it for anyone…if you want it come and look and leave a deposit if you must.

I have the main bent sections of a custom cages rollcage (I.E. all the non-straight bar sections) that could go with this for the right price and a host of other bits knocking around so if you come for the shell bring plenty of wonga for other bits too

SOUND DEADENING ON BULKHEAD SOLD

Im intrested to know why the roof is missing, im assuming it was rolled or damaged at some point?

I have cash and trailer ready for the right thing.

Could you tell me a bit more about its history, how long youve had it, what youve done to it what your palns were for it etc.

 

i think dan removed the sunroof skin to fit a carbon roof he bought in a group buy on the escos site

 

its a bargain at this price, just wish i had the room for it, would be ideal to swap my V8 and running gear into it, but my drive looks like a car sales already, hope you get what ya want for it bud, most breakers want a few grand for a rolling shell

 

Brief History.....(what I was told by previous owner) Was a tarmac rallycar, shell is a mk5 shell.....very little damage for a rallycar...there are a few little bits you can tell have been worked but it's to be expected. The shell was built into a roadcar by the previous owner...he cut out the cage and had a sunroof fitted (hence the removal of the sunroof and the reason it currently has no cage). I purchased a full car minus engine box and diffs.....I was intending to build a 2wd monster, but a business venture and loss of heart meant I had to stop part way through.
The roofskin looks a bit messy as I didnt have a brazing torch to remove the corner pieces still attached, also my spot weld drill gace up just before completing the job.....it's not a big job for a competent guy (I never saw it as a problem but I can see how it looks bad to the average guy).
The shell has ZERO concerning rust...the stuff you see is all surface and has happened over past few months in storage and the shell sitting outside over past few weeks.

I have the majority of a cage to go back in, tarmac suspension (remote res ledas), eccentric top mounts, rear billies, T5 boxes, gripper diff, compression struts, adjustable tcas, wrc spoiler, x2 sets 18 inch wolf motorsport wheeels (white set and charcoal set), flocked dashboard (dennis osbourne built).

If you can mend metal this is a bargain, I honestly can't believe it's still here at this price....would have taken me less time to plasma the wings off and gotten the pikeys to fetch the scrap than answering all the pm's and phonecalls....
