new to all this forum stuff so be gentle! lol

currently restoring a Lhd Si rs turbo which should be enough to keep me busy heh? or so i thought

now got my hands on an accident damaged focus rs and thinking of putting the running gear into the Escort.

Is this possible?
Anyone done it before?
Tips or hints?

have whole car so parts not an issue as well as a good welder/fabricator and a friend who can do the wiring side

You havent seen the state of the focus

 

do it. Nearly got a lhd s1 few years ago bloke in bedford had it ex rally car from beljum but he wanted to much for it. Got a lhd mk2 xr2 and a lhd saff 4x4 and a lhd mk6 escort van.

 

If your gunna do all that work u might aswell make it rhd at the same time.

why make it rhd? There wasent many lhd s1's made my lhd saff always gets attention at the shows in a sea of s1's at shows its good to have something different. Plus the bulkhead,scuttle .brakes, loom ect are different.

 

i only bought the car cos it was lhd, rhd ones are about, but like you say buddy, lhd stands out from the crowd, plus its going to be registered in france and so still on french plates - now thats euro look!!

 

i remember years agao a guy called Moza was restoring a LHnd S1 think he ended up converting to RHD as he could not get the parts

I would have prefered a rhd car in a rhd country that's all. If your happy driving a lhd then of course leave it.
Havin a focus engine in it will make it stand out anyway lol

 

buy a cheap focus an drop it in that then save you few grand messing bout
making things fit in the escort
