I do 40-50K miles a year, so fuel economy is fairly important to me, will never have a badly uneconomical daily driver again, its just throwing money away to still sit on the motorway at 60mph in traffic anyway, no good having 450bhp and only get the chance to use 50bhp of them on a day to day basis.
Would sooner save the money to spend going round racetracks of a weekend.

This is where my £350 Laguna tractor triumphs. Frankly astonishing MPG, anyway you drive it.

I'm just shy of that mark (59. something) in the *pardon me* passat. Tyres seem to last a little longer driving like a pensioner too!

Had a Focus TDCI hire car today, thrashed it to Brunters, thrashed it at Brunters, thrashed it back home. 300 miles, and still 41mpg. I thought that was quite impressive.

No matter what I did the 'instant' readout was never lower than the best my old ST200 managed to average!

my mates just got a new passat eco thing, 1.6 derv. has done 850 miles to a tank, i think he said 58mpg average. but it still needs running in, so should only get better.

my work vivaro van seems to be doing about 600 miles to a tank, ive not yet done a full tank on it tho as i only got it sunday with 3/4 of a tank, and filled it up tuesday.

my old van would see 500 miles to 80L, but that thing got its arse handed to it ALL day

I would never have another petrol daily driver after our PPP Subaru - The new Golf GT TDi is chipped and does 50+mpg around the town, £15 per week
