Default ST 170 Springs, advice needed please

Hi guys,

Do any of you know if the springs on the ST170 are any different than the springs listed for the regular MK1 forcus, i.e. 2.0 Petrol model?

I have snapped spring and have been forced to leave my beloved in a garages over night. Can buy a standard MK1 Focus spring from work, just need to confirm that they are gonna do the job.

Any help much appreciated.

No the spring rates are totally different and they are 15mm lower than standard stuff. Only fit the ST170 springs

I wont ask how much that cost, i assume it would have been far cheaper to buy a set of Eibach springs and fit a full set?

Upon reflection, would have been alot cheaper fitting full set.

Mangaged to get two springs from Ford dealer for £160.

It has put a dint in my saving pot for a replacement clutch like. Not too happy.

Oh no not the clutch, it seems standard practice to have to replace these now on the ST170, mine went at 50'000miles replaced it with a 12lb aluminium fly and kevlar stage 3 clutch, all in the parts were cheaper than standard ford stuff at around £600 plus delivery.
