Hi Im new here so sorry if I sound clueless but..

I started my car today after work and all of the dashboard lights were flickering, the mileage display had 8888 and all of the clocks remained on 0, so I drove home not knowing my speed etc. and with a beeping noise sounding every few seconds :S

halfway home the speedo needle went mad and then the dash was back to normal, anyone else had this problem? or know what it is?
