I've just been out to my local ford dealer to get a set of engine mounts for my series one and the bloke behind the counter said that they can no longer get hold of the offside engine mount.

Does anyone know if this true or did i just speak to a pleb?

 

I've never understood what is offside and what is nearside. Anyhow, the one on the right (driver's side in the UK) is the same as mk4 escorts and this cannot be difficult to find. The one on the gearbox is special on mk3 escorts. However, these are not very strong and I've ripped two into peaces, including a new one. So, I would warmly recommend the vibratechnics HD engine mounts if you want some new ones.

 

Offside is the side in the middle of the road (drivers in the UK)..nearside is the kerbside (passenger in UK)

 

cossiemat, just done an engine transplant into my mk5, ive got an OS Engine mount spare, pm me if ur intrested
