Brakes help
i have an F reg 89 2wd saph and im going to be upgrading the brakes front and rear,
ive been told that you can fit the bigger 4X4 saph rear break calipers and bigger disks,
i cant seem to find any information on this, are they a direct fit or do you need a fitting kit.
any help would be appreciated .
Also i want to put 6 pot`s on the front. what size disk can i fit under 17" alloys,
also what make breaks do you guys think are the ones to go for,
thanks all in advanced.

From memory I believe the 4x4 rear brakes are a direct swap for the 2wd setup, just need to make sure you get a set of 4x4 vented rear discs and a pair of 4x4 rear calipers.
Disc size on the front will depend on what type of 17 inch wheels you have. On my 4x4 I have 17 inch OZ super T wheels and I have 330mm discs with AP 4 pot calipers (CP5200 caliper). Think you can get bigger discs / calipers behind Compomotive 17 inch wheels but not 100% sure how big.

As said both 4wd(cos) and 2wd(cos) are 273mm, solid on the 2wd vented on the 4wd, need the 4wd calipers as well due to extra width of disc, but simple bolt on job.
The front as said varies a bit depending on wheels make, but certainly should be safe with 330mm at least.
If you have deep pockets go for AP, if you want ones that are arguably just as good but cheaper, look at other makes like Tarox, B32-6, these are 6 pots, can get all the popular make of pads in this caliper fitment, often means just grinding a tiny raised button down flush on the rear of the pads.
I'd also look at a 300mm kit vented if poss for the rear, these do a awful lot of work also.
Use decent braided lines with fresh fluid, could use racing fluids, beware DOT5.1 that everyone raves about can have a LOWER boiling point dot4, typically being around 270C as opposed to whereas SOME dot 4 will do over 300C, dot 5.1 was actually developed for COLD climates cars esp those with esp as it has a far better low temp viscosity.
