is it worth doing this convertion with a standard clutch?

my clutch went, so i fitted a new one and i fitted a new rachet and pawl as the teeth were damaged, the new one was from a motor factors, the clutch bites low down and when the car gets warm it bites even lower and is a pain to get in first sometimes and crunches in reverse, would the convertion cure this or would i be better with a gen ford rachet?
