Beige 1.6L Zetec Turbo
Easy, I've been a member on here a long time now but just lurk about now and then. Thought I'd show my Escort, I bought the Estate in very good shape with a load of T&T for £500 from ebay totally standard, full history 1 owner, never touched in any way. The shell really is very very good everywhere, never welded and very very clean where it matters, just some scabbing on the arches which I will sort.
Got it home and me and a mate set about it the next day. I am very pleased with it, it is something a bit different, its a lot of fun and I learned loads doing it.

Needs the big brakes and gaz kit to finish and I'm going with powdercoated series 2 wheels as I love them on the mk4s and think it will look smart nice and low on them and otherwise unmolested?
Hope you all like!

Cheers, nothing more happened yet but I need to get the brakes and suspension changed over and give my series 2 wheels a like of black plastikote and get them fitted. Would like to keep it a full on sleeper but it will drive so much better with these parts.
Well after all the graft me and my mate Eddie put into this I drove it for a while before parking it at me mum's and basically forgetting all about it.
Recently decided to get it going again so I treated it to a set of banded 14"x7" steels with nice fresh 175/45/14 tyres. I lowered the rear but the front gaz shocks are packed up ready to go for a refurb so the front is on the stock suspension until that comes back.
I wanted to do something different with the car than make it look like a reshelled RST. I think the car is actually quite rare (although nothing special, but still) I didn't want to take any of that from it so I thought nice stance with the original wheel trims was the way to go? I like it anyway, will look a lot better nice and low.
I didn't want to lose the sleeper effect but wanted to do something different. I'm fairly sure I have created something unique, would be a boring old world if we were all the same

As far as I know they belong to the car, but I might be wrong, it may have just had them slapped on at some stage I don't know!
Does make a good sleeper, have had some very funny reactions from drivers of far superior cars

Fitted the magnex, wanted to have all the mounts in place so yee-haa-ed up the original front mount with the grinder and welder and a bit cut off the original exhaust. Is only a bolt on part and serves a purpose, exhaust is tucked up lovely with this

That doesn't really show how tucked up it is but I am very happy it has a nice amount of movement but is well up out of the way.
Then did some tidying jobs, got the fuel lines tucked up out of the way, tidied some wiring in the bay etc.
Then decided to see how the cooler would fit
Stripped the old fan and cooler off, little comparison pic this should keep things a bit cooler

The cooler was missing the mounting brackets so I made some up from 1mm steel and gave them to my dad who is going to copy them in 2mm in the morning so I can mount it properly and a little one to hold the rad in properly now the standard cooler is off.
Also fitted my PTS chipped ECUs, black hoses and few other bits in the bay.
Will need to order a new thermostat kit and a pair of kenlowes to get the cooler all fitted up properly so it will all be coming back off but I was bored and it was Sunday.

Cheers lads back on it tomorrow making up brackets for the rad and cooler and cutting the bumper in places it won't notice to let some air onto the cooler! Not sure whether to give the cooler a lick of satin black yet, what do you think?
Thanks for all the positive comments really glad you all like what I have done with the old bus!

Cheers everyone, is nothing like some of the projects on here but I'm enjoying mucking about with it.
They bodging continued today, finished the fitting of the cooler, all just needs a paint now and tidy up the front panel.
Brackets to hold the inter cooler, yeeee-haaa... But they work well and once they have a lick of paint will look fine
Also removed the core from the standard cooler and took a grinder to the end caps so I could refit them to hold the rad in place properly again. Bodge, yes but it does the job it is meant to nicely and I can always make something a bit prettier up down the line.

Nobody will know, the brackets and the cooler will be both getting a lick of black paint next weekend. Very slight trimming of the bumper to get it to fit snugly, I probably could have adjusted my brackets but it didn't break my heart being an old bonus bumper and I only had to remove slithers here and there.

The pics really don't do this car justice! The little touches are awesome! When them shocks are back from GAZ and they're wound right down it'll sit lovely. You well under sell the work you've put into it, even though you are a bloody cowboy
lol cheers me old mucker once it's tucked up in a garage and I can spend a few evenings smartening bits and bobs up I'll get properly into it, no fun out in the cold and running out of light at 4 in the afternoon!
Main thing is to get that front panel rubbed down and all painted up fresh and give it all a bloody good clean, get the bumper cut outs all filed out nice etc, just little jobs I can waste afternoons making a good job of hopefully!
