I think but not sure by any means it is 5 turns counter clockwise, then 1 1/2 clockwise to get somewhere near, shouldn't play with "it" so much naughty boy ha ha!!

to do it properly

run engine up to temp
unplugg the iscv (leave engine running) (iscv is on top the throttle body grey plug)
adjust idle on throttle body screw to 900rpm
re connect iscv, and idle should stay stable. (you need to do the above before the cooling fans come on!)

then 5 turns on the screw, this takes it back past zero, then 2.5 turns out.
Remember, its a potentiometer, not a normal screw, so it only adjusts a certain amount, no more or no less, even if you turn it 100 times, turning it back 5 times will still take it to zero.

what chip are you running and what does the CO% have to be at idle according to your chip?

5 turns then 2.5 either way mate ?

its a msd 380+ chip for greys & t38 on l6, cant get the co any lower than 9.05%, its in the 10's - 11's on idle on my innovative cruise is around 13.5-14 so not to bad there but full chat its been known to go into the 9's

ive changed the water temp, air charge and map sensor and its still the same, prob going to send it back to msd for them to check as im running out of ideas, also had the inlet off and checked all hoses for leaks

cheers for the reply

We've checked and set the fuel pressure to 3.5 bar with the vacuum pipe disconnected as stated in the info given to Paul by MSD.

Also tried my MAP sensor aswell to eliminate that.

I had exactly the same problem (fueling rich only at idle, Co was fine), never did fix it despite numerous conversations withs MSD That was meant to be closed loop as well!

If all the plugs are the same colour unlikely to be an injector fault.
They, ie cossie engines don't need to be this rich, mine idled 100% perfect at 0.97% CO, 137ppm and NO CLOSED LOOP, oh with 200,973 miles on it, on GREYS.
Best thing I ever did was ditch the w/m ecu, wouldn't even use a free one if already set up.
All you can do is go through the usual, which you certainly seem to have covered.

Got my ecu & chip back from msd this morning in record time, found no faults although they did adjust the chip slightly as i forgot to mention the 4x4 inlet & spacer i had

Cruise whise the fueling is bang on at 14.4 - 14.8

Idle is still very rich and also on boost, now i was playing around on idle and when you slightly press the throttle almost nothing the fuel drops right off to 14-14.5

could this be due to a tps fault ? i did set the tps a while back to what i though was ok, it also sometimes drops off its self then richens up again

It shows clearly the advantage of getting it mapped, as opposed to a chip, so best of luck to you.
Don't even know the AFR of mine at idle!!

99% of the time these issues are set up faults, i see cars everyday running our chips which are supplied off the shelf and if correctly set up they just work fine, which is why we are confident when we supply them they will work.

other issues which we come across, are peoples engine specs which sometimes for one reason or another are not what they think, and means large changes in manifold depression, this in turn causes the ecu to reference a different load site at idle than we would normally see, and these sites may have more fuel in them, as an example, this can be caused by head work, cams, poor lifters, or any number of small changes people have made over the cars life.

we are always more than happy to tweek files and get the most out of them for you, there is no question of that, but you need to be 100% sure everything your end is correct. if we go taking fuel out of a map we know works on hundreds of other cars of your spec there MUST be a reason why yours doesnt work, and if you then go and rectify that issue at a later date you can so easily loose an engine so we HAVE to be very carefull for your own good.
