engine rebuild how much?
sorry to sound a bit dumb but whats involved in an engine rebuild and how much will it cost
also whats the difference between stage 1,2,3,4 and the costs involved im thinking of buying a saff and just after a guide price.

If DIY engine rebuild, which is dead easy I would say around Ł700 - Ł1100 roughly, depends a lot on what you find, Ł400 right away for new pistons for example.
To give you an idea my own engine is in bits at the mo after having done interstellar mileage of 200,000K, it has always had(with me) engine flush prior to every oil change.
Needs new pistons as expected but the crank only needs a polish on three journals, new pump needed, got new pinto pump Ł20, and upped the pressure, takes all of 1 minute!!.
Mine will be around the Ł700 mark with parts/machining cost.
The various stages usually concentrate on stage 1/2/3, stage 1 is mostly just a chip change for about 275bhp, stage 2 most don't bother with they go to stage 3 which is diffeent injectors called 803's or dark greens, chip, map sensor etc, above this mostly it's as much as you want to spend.
My advice is decide whether you want 2wd or 4wd, they are very different to drive at the limit esp, plus trans on 4wd is a lot weaker and costs serious money for big power due to this 4wd system.

I just spent Ł2500 on parts alone on a newly built YB on Greens!! But the guy that did it was top notch and didnt charge much at all... cash job and he did it in his private time. He works for a cossie specialist in Littlehampton, West Sussex
For mine it's Ł420 pistons, block bore amd mega skim(to raise CR) Ł80, crank polish Ł35, ring gapping(pistons) Ł10, then shells, also having a re balance, already had the head done so I suppose that saves up to about Ł500-Ł600.

You have to bear in mind the smaller costs too. When the engine is apart you should really replace all the bearings, would be wise to replace the sensors too, cam belt, gaskets and of course the head gasket with new head bolts. These costs can add up to quite an amount just on their own and they have to be done.
i had my engine rebuilt by a engineer + a dyno run to test it out prior to refitting it cost me Ł2000 . unfortunately i had some shit work done by a very well known company in SWF essex and cost me another Ł700 for a rebuild on the head (wasn,t done correctly) plus never returned some parts of mine , .
no turbo rebuild at this cost .

There's no need to replace sensors if they were working ok, rather than putting in some unknown ones, even knew ones can be duff, if the belt and tensioner are ok they also don't need renewing, as for gaskets I use cometic so the only one I'm buying is the HG at about Ł50.
I'm keeping all the costs as I buy/get stuff done, incidentally mine is still on std size bearings, but they was something "odd" about the thrust clearance as it was massive.

You do this by increasing the pressure on the spring holdiing the relief valve shut, so it takes more pressure to lift the seat.
Next to the oil pick up area of the pump you will see a round disc type affair roughly 15mm in diametre, this is the cap holding the spring and valve in against the seat.
Tap this in 2-3mm is all that's needed, don't need any more than this, excess pressure is no good and uses power to produce it.
