Hi,

I think the water has got behind the laquer on my centre caps, as can be seen in the pictures below:





Does anyone know if it would be possibe to remove the laquer (perhaps via wet sanding) and then re-apply a new coat of laquer to get rid of the white marks? Or is there some other way that I could make them look like new again?

The VW areas are mirror finish shiney silver - it could be aluminium but I couldn't tell you for sure. They are difficult to take photos of. The whole badge seems to be covered with some sort of laquer or film.

yeh, its the centrecaps thats doing that....

 

You had a look on ebay, i managed to get some stickers for my leon just stick it over the top. looks spot on

Unfortunately no one on ebay can make them in the correct size, and the caps cost approx £100 from VW!

if they were aluminum u could get a wire wheel and grind the flake off and use aluminum polish and polish them up it will get rid of all the scratches and then just put a coat of laquer on

 

Leave it with me my good man, Melanie's sister is going out with the dude who pretty much owns VW in Ayr, so I'll get a price for them. You'd be surprised at the mark up on some parts!..

Stoo - that would be excellent! The dealers only sell the badges and caps together as far as I know (hence why the price is so high ). Let me know how you get on anyway. Have the caps on yours gone the same way?

Mine have gone on my BBS RC wheels too, but the dishes have started to go too - i think they are £140 for a set from VW

I was going to fit Genuine BBS caps on mine once they are refurbished
