South! Very south!

If you want to drive, go to the Alps, slip into Switzerland and Italy too, you won't regret it.

I've not done the Nurburgring, but if you want a driving holiday, you would love the Alps, stunning scenery and some fantastic roads, well worth it

The roads in the Vercor national park (south of Grenoble) are pretty fun and reasonbly close to the Med

Me and timrud did a random drive to france eyars ago to find the sign post ' breasts ' as we had nicked the sign post ' jordan ' in the uk. We never found it and french customs ripped my scooby apart

Also drove from the ring with tim again, through luxumbourg and down through france and into spain what was pretty cool.

French customs again had my car, they make a bee line for me im sure of it

Head for austria and switzerland instead, the alps are stunning this time of year on your way back ,hit the ring, no need to touch france only for 20 mins at the start and end of your trip

I agree with Dave, France isn't the nicest drive, and the more direct route is through Belgium and Luxembourg etc anyway. The Swiss and Italian Alps are where I'd be heading for sure!
