Hi,

I've been having intermittent problems with my '06 Focus Sport.... initially the engine management light came on the dash, the car was spluttering when I put the accelerator down it would jump as if there was some sh*t stuck in the fuel line or something..

Went to garage (not dealer) and they replaced some pump or other! - it got better, still seemed a bit flat - I've had the car 8 months and it's flatter than I though it would be, being a TDCI, Sport model, 1.8 engine etc etc..

Took to Ford dealer and mentioned the problems, they flashed the ECU.

Then a few weeks ago on a trip down the A1 it lost all power, driving at about 80mph, pedal to the floor and it gradually lost speed until it got to around 30mph where the exhaust became smokey and embarrassing!! - I switched the ignition off for about an hour then when I drove it again it was fine!!

Is this common with the Focus and are they generally flat or is there something wrong with mine!!

Sounds like an "Air Mass Meter" or MAF sensor.

thanks for that. I think it has been replaced, garage replaced some kind of filter and tried to charge me £300!! Could it be the same?
