Default Snap-on 18v drills

Has anyone had any experience of snap on drills? Our dealer never has the 18v one on the van to look at but can get them. He says they are on offer soon and im in the market for a cordless drill at the minute. I have the 18v cordless impact gun so the batteries would be interchangeable.

I dont want to buy one blind though as they are £300 The impact gun is great nut I dont want to buy a drill and basically just pay for the name!

surely there are better makers of drills on the market, snap on is hardly a leading drill maker and for £300 i reckon youre buying into the name.

Can get a makita for under a £100

They are good no hammer through, but very very good if you have the impact gun already as use the same battery etc

they on special now £275 CDRU6850 then sell in the charger and battery and case should get back 100 for them bits

Exactly, hence why im asking what they are like. On the other hand, I cant imagine they would sell a poor quality product that could damage their name?

I had a look at the 14V one and it looked like a nice bit of kit with a nice chuck.

You can absolutely get better drills...but the fact you can swap batteries is a big bonus. He should be able to sell you a drill only ? no charger or batteries.

Any complete drill package at £100, will be shite.

The funny thing is, nobody seems to have the Snap-on drills. Now that must be a bad thing? I might buy one and then report back. Might be good reference for the future.

From research ive done on cordless stuff, you pay for the quality of the battery. So at £300 for the Snap-on on you get 2 batteries and they are £115 each on their own!

A friend has 1/2" and 3/8" impact plus a 14.4 and 18v drill.

They work. Simple as that really.

But If I was buying a drill for the purpose of drilling as a sole unit, I'd buy Panasonic. But then I already have done lol

Buyt if I already had various other items that used the same battery, it would be a bit daft to end up with multiple batttery types and charger types.

they are good if u get the one with metal gears and the higher amp hour on the battery but it is hard too beat the dewalt one with the metal gears and again go for the one with the high amp hour battery they last so much longer between charges. Has to be 18v as well

My makita 18v li-on drill is the best i've used (had a dewalt before)
They're not cheap though and if you only want to use it for drilling metal (i.e no hammer action) then i'd not bother paying for the snap-on name and go for a makita/dewalt etc that you can get alot cheaper when you get them on offer!

I got a nice Makita 18v drill with 2 x 3.0Ah Li-ion battries, case and charger for £220 a few months ago. Very nice for the money, and charges in under 20mins

typical hammer on cordless drills....or even electric ones for that matter are dung.

Buy a cheap SDS percussion drill for masonry work. Even they are dirt cheap now.

And buy the cordless for the workshop.

mate i won't split these but i can do you these for £175 brand new, never used... i can also chuck in another naked (no batteries/charger) drill, same model.

so that would be two naked cordless drills and a boxed cordless circular saw.

i'll be at cumbria on sunday and can bring them with me.
