Default Aspergers

Does anyone have or has a child with Aspergers? My partners son has all the signs of Aspergers but she has had a real hard time getting any professionals to see him, she has known something was wrong since he was born. He is nearly 8 now and has been referred to CAMHS 5 times but has heard nothing back, she has even spoke to someone from CAMHS when he was at some children's event and he said that he sounds really bad and should be seen but still nothing. He has already tried to hang his sister and put sello tape round his nose and mouth, and is now talking about killing himself as everyone would be better off without him. He is always hitting his sister who is only 5 and its affecting her badly now. Any advice? what's helped or who has helped? Look forward to any advice and thanks for taking the time to read this.

In my last job i was a manager of a kids home and a boy came in he was 15 he had adhd, aspergers and sexual and challenging behaviour, he was also the reason i walked out on my job,

There is not alot of help around for people who have that, he was put on pills but he was just sort pushed away, we had to always try to chase up help for him but noone wanted to know, think you need to keep pushing at the doctors for him to be refered to someone, good luck I know how hard that is

You have a right to demand to be referred to a specialist. Go to your GP and tell them straight. They have to take dangerous and suicidal behavior very seriously.

Go with her to the GP and stand your ground.

Why have camhs done nothing? If theyre not getting back to you, mither them until you get some answers.
Ask gp for another referral.

Her GP is useless, My other half lives in London and i always thought the best was there, but it seems they get paid for doing nothing. No-one is interested in taking him on and when someone does take a look they lose all the paper work. I have never been so frustrated and i have only known her for 2 years, she has had this for 8 years. Thanks for all your replys, it means alot. I know there is alot of people in the same situation as us and i feel deeply sorry for all that have to struggle.

my son who is now 18 has it,we found out when he was 8,he does not show any signs of violence of killing himself,he will not look at you when talking to you and will fixate on a certain subject(with him its history world war 2)he does not mix with other people and can sometimes be a humpy little sod lol,but it is such a wide spectrum, you must keep pushing to get him the help he needs SHOUT AT THEM IF YOU HAVE TO lol

Try going through the National Autistic Society. They are really helpful. They have a helpline but should also be able to put you in touch with a local representative who will know the right people in the health service and council to get the diagnosis sorted. My son has autism but was diagnosed at 2 via the health visitor and referred to local paedeatrician through Southwark council.

I think you're very much at the mercy of council run services and the NHS but the NAS is great at putting you in touch with the right people.
