Hi guys/Gals

Im lookin into changing my career which to most is obviously a bad idea at the moment due to the economic climate. Im a fully q'd electrician but my heart just isnt in the job anymore and more to the point I build and wire control panels so I will never be on a sparkys wage.

I have always wanted to get involved with motorsport engineering etc as I have a passion for cars like the most of you.

Anyone know whats the best way of getting on the scene as I cant seem to find a way of getting involved at the moment.

I live in Southport nr Liverpool so if anyone knows of any help I can recieve up this area let me know.

Cheers
Ry

Hmmm good idea, well how do you go about making up a wiring loom, I can wire looms but where do you start?

Im assuming buying a standard for instance escort wiring loom and redoing it with better quility cables.

I work of drwings so not entirely sure where I would start and how I would make it better than standard.

Sorry if I sound harsh. But from somebody who works in "motorsport" i'd say don't bother. It would be like me putting a post up asking to be a professional footballer. (I can't kick a ball by the way)

If you are serious, you'll hate it by the time you've learned enough about it.

Harsh lol, I understand, Its not like I dont know anything about cars etc I know plenty its just trying to get on the ladder as it were bit like the property market once youve learnt enough you get the house and the rest is piss easy.

Think the best idea for me maybe to get a little project car and restore it, ive tried 3 times in the past but due to moving houses, money and lack of time I never got round to finishing them.

This time might be different as where settled down and got plenty more time and money.
