Ok, I know my car isn't a performance car etc but I love it all the same and thought i would post up the transformation that occured over the weekend
Since I've owned her, the drivers door has suffered with the bottom edge being rusted from one edge to the other. Over the year it got considerably worse.
I had two attempts at replacing the door, the first time, the donor door went on but there was a gap of at least a CM between the door and the front wing and it looked terrible! So thought it might have been a problem with the door itself. Another door came up, so tried that one, only to find that this one wouldn't sit properly either and wouldn't line up at all to shut. It was this time that I found out to replace a door on a 3door escort, it would mean cutting out the old hinches and welding on new ones.....
so instead the following occured!
This pic doesn't really show the rust as it was in the end, and
I forgot to take a pic of it before the work began... If I find a better pic of it Ill add it later

First sanded down the surface rust, and painted with some hammerite rust preventing paint

then sanded that down and applied the filler:

Followed by Grey Primer:

Then Red Primer:

Then sanded down again and sprayed the colour:
First coat:

On the car before lacquer:

Then after the final coat of lacquer:

And finally on the car:

And a couple more reflective pics from my paint work!

and one from down the side

Im so happy with the car now

Thanks for the comments, If standing watching and making a brew is doing it myself then yeah!!
lol John did it and i must say he done a fantastic job of it!! Im well happy with it
I absolutely love the way its come out, and yes the paper was brilliant .. it done the job!!
I was a bit worried about the Red paint, because of the fading on the rest of the car etc, we all know what red is like...but being done with rattle cans from halfords im extremely impressed

I wanted the 16's on but found the 15's for Ł40 inc the tyres, so tbh couldn't pass out on it, and she drives lovely on the 15's, she had 17's on her when i first got her and she drove like a pig, tram lined everywhere, so they were off and some really nasty wheels put on, until whats on her now!
