Default Turbo Ka Help needed!!!

Got what i was informed to be a mk5 escort RST engine to put in my Ka at the weekend, but turns out its a mk3 engine.

Not properly clued up on this, but from what we've found the engine wont bolt onto the current Ka box, and the engine mounts are totally different to that of the Ka.

Now, from the research i did, there are three mounts, two on the box, one in the engine bay on the O/S.

Seems none of these lines up what so ever for some reason as all the mounts are in different places.
Question, was there a difference in the mountings between a mk3 and a mk5? Or am i just being a dimwit and missing something blatently obvious?

I have been given, literally everything to do this conversion with, but was going to stick with the standard Ka box.

Any help would be appreciated as i'd rather not sell the engine and go back to a standard Ka engine

You sound confused? This is what i was told the engine was, later turned out to be a Mk3 Escort RST engine.

Please explain?

Thing is, i spoke to alot of people that said it was a relatively easy (ish) conversion to do, all that was needed was a new mount kit for the O/S or a bit of home DIY on in, other than that it was a case of attaching the RST engine to the current Ka box.

get an rst box with slip diff or when boost comes on when cornering could be a bit hairy is there not a ka owners club that could help out ... the ka is the similar engine as a mk1 fiesta and if they can fit in there then you should be able to do it relativly easy

I have done many ka engine conversions you can get the mounts from a company called track designs i made my own i have also done zvh and zetec aswell all using the ka ib5 gearbox and rs turbo lsd and ka shafts, using the ka box you can keep two of the ka mounts, and rs turbo n/s engine mount modified to fit, it is better if you use efi fiesta rs turbo engine with ofab management, but you can stay erst if you want it just makes your life a little bit harder, pm me if you need anymore info!

for the CVH you need the later gearbox from the duratec engined Kas so the starter is in the right place.

on the cvh the starter will not fit on the back due to the shape of the block, i had the section cut out of the bc box and welded in on the ib5 (rest of the bell housing is the same) this will allow the fitment of the cvh starter, if how ever you go zetec the starter will fit on the back

if you dont want to have the box welded then get a duratec ka gearbox as this will fit and has the starter on the front already

i have done 4-5 rs turbo/zvh conversions i have the wiring diagrams here if needed for using ofac or ofab, as said above get the mount from track designs (joey is a top lad)

regards

gary
