Default Magenta Saff, Light resto and making it my own (POSSIBLY FOR SALE/SWAP)

I was going to do a for sale thread but all the info on the car is on here, hence the link !

Ideally I'm looking for something V8 powered, i.e E39 m5 or E55 amg, but I'm open to all suggestions, especially classics.

HOWEVER, THOSE OF YOU WITH A BEAN CANNED CLIO AND 500 QUID NEED NOT APPLY...

I'm not bothered if the car goes or not as I love it to bits, just fancy a bit of v8 action.....If I keep it, she'll get fitted with MSD wasted spark, bara uprated vc and a fresh lick of paint

Where should I start?

Well after wanting a cossie for years I chopped in my bag of shite old scooby for what looked like a lovely moonstone saff

Looking good was where it ended though ....the car flew home from Hemsworth and was trouble free for a couple of weeks then the dreaded smoke and pressure in the oil system happened

After looking at it sat on the drive for about 8 months I decided it was time to sell....for the princely sum of 2k ..I didnt mind letting it go so cheap as I knew it was going to a good home and going to be put back on the road....cheers scottyrs

I then trawled the classifieds and looked at a few of what can only be described as overpriced SHITE, I came accross this :....Massive thanks to PATTY off here for selling it to me

The car has reciepts for EVERYTHING, including the turbo which is still under waranty!

As you can see, sitting WAY too low

Chavvy but it was already there and I kinda like it....

Bluesprint engine with less than 5k on it

Set up at MSD, Running t35.63, siemens blacks (55's), 3'' exhaust, mahoosive intercooler, spec R tanks etc....I'll post up full spec later

Nice comfy and MINT leather!

Wasnt happy with the clear indicators...not that I dont like them, just fancied going for ambers
so....

Out with the old

In with the new

I know the black number plate surround is still on but it's screwed into the rear panal so didn't want to take it off just yet...it'll be coming off when the car go's in for paint

Thanks the ever knowledgable and extremely helpfull Tabetha, I managed to get the full set of ambers brand spankers for a 100 quid ...cheers Tabs

I've never been over keen on morettes but they came with the car...I have now bought a mint set of standard headlights with an HID kit...cheers SteveB

BUT, as the intercoolers MAHOOSIVE and sits quite far forward I can't fit them in ...you can kind of see how far forward it is here :

What I didn't notice is the rear of the morretes had been doctored to suit..So I think for now I'll swap over the HID kit into the morretes and get them painted up in magenta

Now, after fitting the ambers I thought the wheels looked a bit tired and since I had a set of TSW evo R's (thanks to Bad Boy RS for selling me them) I'd had re-furbed and wrapped in new rubber for the moonstone saff, they might as well go on

And since the car had a SERIOUS traction problem due to it being on it's arse, I went on the hunt for springs...Massive thanks to Mike Rainbird for advising me to go with the Ahmed Bayjoo springs..not only have they improved traction and looks but now I can get over speed bumps without worrying about ripping my exhaust off!

The car as it stands now

Now being a 21 year old car there are a few areas that need attention:

Rear passenger door

Roof

Passenger rear arch

Drivers rear arch

I havent got photos yet but theres a bit around the rear spoiler needing attention but it's not too bad

Well thats how the car stands for now...Plans for the near future are to fit my FRS disks and Brembos, sort the paint out, get some koni adjusties for the rear, purchase Tabetha's scorpio cossie 21mm rear anti roll bar and fit a polly diff mount

Also the diff's leaking a little and whining, spoke to Bara motorsport thismorning and as soon as I get the chance I'll be sending my diff too them to have it uprated to 250nm

They were extremely helpfull on the phone, they didn't just want to sell me there most expensive unit incase it didn't suit my needs

Huge thanks to everyone on here who helped advise me on diff choice, was good to get a range of oppinions

Well thanks for reading my resto thread, I'll update it as and when...hopefully I might even get the car to a few shows this year, put some names to faces
Would be nice to meet shifty off here as he used to own the car and he's been a huge help, giving me loads of info and previous history on the car

All comments are welcome and I don't mind a bit of constructive critasism

Good base, i do prefer the car on the comps though, and i think it would look odd with twin headlights and ambers..

I did like the comps but they were getting a bit tired...I think the tsw's give the car a cleaner look...was defo's more agressive on the comps though!

You're probs rite on the quads and ambers mate but I may as well try it, something a bit different...if it looks shite, they'll be sold and I'll attack the standard 1's with the biscuit cutter lol

Cheers for the coment mate, I like to hear everyones oppinion, it helps with future plans for the car

like new the wheels,
to get new headlights in, loosen intercooler and rad off a little (so it slightly moves) then fit headlights, and nip intercooler rad back up.
P.m me if you dont understand mate.

p.s how much to get the diff rebuilt

Your work so far looks excellent - I know one of the previous owners of the car. I think he did most of the tuning work on it.

No idea bud, all I know is they were LOW...at a guess 40mm

The car looked awsome but as soon as the car came on boost it just squirmed all over....was fun though lol

Not a 100% sure what you mean mate but I'll have a look when I get home the weekend...Thanks for the advice tho

As for the diff, Just to uprate it from 60nm pre-load to 250nm is Ł300

To fully re-build it and uprate it, it's Ł600 so not too bad really...I'd preferre a titan but my minge doesnt like the sound of Ł1300 lol

Cheers mate,

You can tell it's had some serious coin thrown at it...the stack of reciepts is huge

And the way it runs and drives speaks for itself

The main reason I bought it, is because it's structurally and mechanically sound, just needs a little tidying....dont we all lol

I'd like to meet some of the previous owners of the car, just to have a crack about its history etc

if you slightly unwind the bolts on the chasis legs what hold intercooler and rad on. the intercooler should then be able to move a little, ie. push top of intercooler towards engine, this should allow room to then fit headlights, then nip intercooler/rad back up.
it worked for me on my old sapph.

i had to do this on mine to.
don't forget to loosen the the 2 intercooler pipes aswell.
the one that goes to the throttle body and the one on the other side that goes to the bottom of the turbo
then the intercooler will push forward enough to get your head lights in.

Default Small update !!!

Well, I tried loosening the intercooler.....

Snapped the bolt clean off in the chassis

So after spending most of the morning fixing that I decided to just modify the lights incase the same thing happened on the other side lol

So this is what I did

Drivers side

Passenger side

Just nipped the back off with the angle grinder....not ideal and doesn't exactly look pretty but you can't see it with the bonnet shut and it's not a show car...it just gets enjoyed, rain or shine!

So here's how she look's now...

Took a while to get the lights and grille to sit streight, allot of filing and pulling but its nearly there....not quite perfect but I'm happy

Now I really want to change the wheels, I think silver wheels will look the nuts but cant decide which one's

All suggestions welcome people
