Default cossie t5 box rebuild cost?

how much roughly am i looking at to get my gearbox overhauled? sounds terribly like the layshaft bearings have given up the will to live, start it up from cold get a nasty knocking noise, put the clutch down noise stops, clutch back up and noise comes back. seems to go when it's warm though.

utterly pissed off with the whole thing now after spunking over 4k rebuilding the engine last year and now this i'm just trying to weigh up spending more on it or locking the garage and forgetting about it for the rest of the year.

i can't see it needing a major rebuild, once it's warm there's no noise at all. Never been difficult to select gear etc.

Mine just sounded like bearings, went in every gear fine.

Said it was totaled when he stripped it, i was on holiday at the time so just got him to rebuild it.

I hope i ain't be screwed

Quite limited us 2wd boys really.

There is a reason your standard box let go - too much power and torque. It will happen again if you use standard internals.

Steve - Ł625 for a standard rebuild? No wonder you have spent Ł4k. Thats ridiculously expensive surely

Steve,

What is the difference between getting a box rebuilt or getting a buggesred box rebuilt. The whole reason of having a box rebuilt is because its buggered? I dont understand why the price difference

I think Steves Ł320 quote was for new bearings and syncros and then was told the gears were shot so hence the higher price, like i said to you yesterday Steve you just have no way of ever nowing wot was wot
