Default ST170 Clutch & Flywheel advice

I have an ST170 which has done very very well to cover 98k without a clutch change.

However, the time is now for a change. After pricing standard aftermarket kit and flywheel, I'm thinking that it may not be too much more to invest in better stuff!

Any advice on where/who to contact and possible makes etc to look at would be much appreciated.

Many thanks guys.

If you can wait 2 weeks for delivery go to Central Florida Motorsport and look at there clutch master kits, i reccomend the stage 3 version.William at CFM is great and they are more than happy to ship worldwide.
i have the stage 3 kit fitted to my ST170, you do get clutch chatter as the fly is only 12lb but only at idle with the clutch up. Acceleration will be greatly improved. Best mod i ever did.

Sounds good, will check that one out. More chatter does slightly concern me if I'm being honest.

Would love something that improves performance but not at risk of causing damage etc.

Clutch chatter is caused because the fly is so light it allows the gears in the transmission to rock back and forth at idle and they chatter together, it causes no damage what so ever, some people just cannot live with the noise. It sounds like a duff release bearing.

Ok mate. Have bounced them an e-mail and await their reply. Is it not worth going through Puma to save time etc? Or do they make silly mark up. Lol

Pumaspeed do seem to mark up their prices allot, i have purchased the CFM Underdrive pulley kit, CFM short shifter, CFM Vernier Cam pulley and Clutchmasters Kit all through CFM and not pumaspeed. You do have to wait a few weeks, you might have to Pay customs charges etc but it still works out cheaper. I think i paid £800 in the end for the kit to be delivered to my door. Ford wanted that much for standard crappy parts. Well worth it. Helix do a kit now for the ST170 also but this is £1200 and is a paddle type clutch which is a bit harsh for the daily drive. TTV also do a fly wheel but beware the one they do is for the smaller earlier clutch friction plate and these tend to slip after 10K, they do not yet do a suitable clutch and fly for the later 240mm friction plate

Call me boring, but I'm going for the oe spec LUK kit.

http://focus.c-f-m.com/lukreplacemen...dfocussvt.aspx

Price decent and I know LUK produce quality.

Feel free to tell me what a mistake I'm making etc. Lol. Timing belt being changed on 07/05, then I will turn my attention to getting this kit bought!
