Default Trade insurance

Been tryin to shift a few cars iv gathered over time, and its a pain in the ar$e with havin to swap over all the insurance & tax stuff.

Gonna start a trade from home policy so i can buy and sell some cars as and when required.

Just spoke to tradex who gave me a quote, guy was quite helpful and told me the kinda stuff to avoid etc.

What other unsurance companies are all the small traders out there using so i can get some more quotes

any help would be great

if trading from home make sure you have proof of trader IE bank account in company name, all sale receipts, advert receipts etc because if you ever have to claim you have to show proof of trading.
They don't tell you that on the phone when your getting a quote, also remember they will only give trade value on cars if written off or stolen.

it happened to me but luckily have all the above but still lost a packet.

trade insurance imo is only worth it as a cover note, all my own cars that are worth more then 10k go on normal polices

thanks guys.

Not planning to shift a load of expensive cars, just got into the habit of buying projects, keeping for a bit and then selling them on.

Easier to use trade insurance than have the 3 or 4 policies all running at the one time. That way i can collect/move/buy/sell etc without having to spend an age on the phone fannying about with policies/swapping etc.

can you have a traders policy if you only average about 2 car sales a year?

you can have a traders policy if you sell no cars but it all goes wrong when you want to claim.

i see - but if you sold a car then surely you have traded so they cannot argue.

i can only go by my policy but when i had to claim i had to show them prove of trading including advert receipts, purchase and sales receipts, bank statements showing money in/out so if you bought a car for 8k in september they wanted to see the money or some of it coming out the bank to stop people just writing there own receipts.

Luckily i sold over 40 cars last year so not a problem and also have bussiness account etc.

The trouble is the brokers are really helpfull but if you claim the underwriters don't want to pay.
