hi been interested in a mk1 escort 2 door lhd how will i go about changing it to rhd or is it not worth doing cheers

easily done, just need a rhd dash panel spot welding in and a new hole in the floor for the steering and pedal box.

I was under the impression esp for tracks lhd is better? In vw circles i always used to hear how the lhd golfs had better brakes etc and handled better.

I am sure there is more to it than just the dash/pedals etc.Gearbox different ie starter on opposite side,I am sure I remember seeing one and it was back to front.I may of dreamed the whole episode though

i have no idea how you worked that one out, if he hasn't converted one then he isn't going to no the inn's and out's, that doesn't instantly make him incompetent at working on cars.

i wouldn't think it's that hard tbh. need to mod the dash and bulkhead to take the steering column etc, and change the steering rack to a rhd one too i guess. other than that you'll need to sort somethign out with the dash for the clocks to live in.

lol @ the gearbox being different
my uncle is a trader and did a s1 from lhd to rhd years ago i do rmember him saying that rwd is much easier to do than fwd!!!!

doh.. forgot the pedal box!
might have to look at the brake servo too if it has one fitted.

lol about my post I swear I have seen an original LHD MK1 and the starter was on the opposite side so therefore the g/box IS different
I will go and speak to the local rallys guys tomorrow and see if they piss emselves @ me
