Why hasn't this rs500 been sold yet?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/998338.htm why hasn't this rs500 sold yet it's been up for sale for months there's a black one at the same garage too they look like nice cars noticed he's put the black one up in price though it was 17995 a while back anyone know anything about em?
yeah i remeber calling up for this as i seen it at 18k and the guy said he just bought it and now wants 25k
some people are unreal also it doesnt have the genuine rs500 engine iirc so straight away its not worth the full value also the steering wheels is terrible and gear gaitor and the centre bit in the dash at 18k ok but not when its not genuine and has pish bits like that BUT its still lovely and would have it

that was my car i bought it from martin johnston and had all the paint work done its mint and straight never had any rust any where...as for it not being the oe engine,i think you would find it hard to get a modded one with the orignal these days..
I liked the steering wheel etc as i fitted it as for the dash bit well that had been modded by the last owner so i put that little panel in to cover the whole and put the push button start on it..it looks better than in the pics..
The car is very nice and has some nice touches but the new owner is wierd as he has about 20 motors iirc and never seems to sell them!!!
i let that beauty go for 15k in 2007 GUTTED!!
cheers danny

Ash the owner/dealer loves his 500's , he aint bothered if they sell , but as the old saying goes , everything is for sale if the price is right ,obviously as he still owns it the price wasnt right for a sale .
the owner is called Ash that owns that and he has several rs500s and a few other cosworths and rsts too
he defo aint bothered about selling it. have the seen the car in the flesh when it was in my mates garage and it is clean on the top and the underside. - i couldnt see any rot in the usual places

The engine is a std 4x4 200 blocked lump with wrc hg and the obvious rs 500 manifolds etc

as said before what does that realy matter???and out of all the remaining ones how many do you rekon have got the oe one it left the factory with???
Not many modded ones that where used anyway..
This car lost the oe one well early in its life due to a fatal blow up or two!!!

It matters alot as the engine wont match up with the chassis therfore loosing one of the key parts that makes a 500 a 500. Why would i spend 20K+ for a Rs500 with a normal cossie engine? would i not be better of buying a 3dr and spending a couple grand on 500 bits?
I know of a fair few that are modified and still have the original engine.. One sits in my garage.
Danny
you would be very suprised how many modded rs500"s still have the correct engine fitted
Most do as the 500 engine has the best block money can buy ( as im sure you know ) so why would you change the engine when the best is sat in there already
As you said about yours , them that have been changed have been due to engines blowing .
The origonal rs500 engine with its correct number to match the chassie number makes a big differance to the cars value
Ash who ownes them 500"s is a great lad and is a true petrol head who collects many types of cars and isnt bothered if they sell or not
Paul
Ps, my big power 500 has a gen rs500 engine fitted

I think the engine from the moonstone car went into Martins GGR racer so its already in Aus if you wanted to re unite them
I have a brand new bare 500 block, they came from Cosworth unstamped so its always possible to replicate an original engine number if someone was determined enough to get back to original.
