Default Internet Security - Chargeable ones.....

I know I've asked about this sort of thing before. I'm really bored of these so-called Internet security packages that are free of charge, they all seem to have their problems and are resource hungry.

Is it worthwhile paying for a package like Kaspersky Internet Security. I'm not tight for £40 per year, if its worthwhile. In actual fact, at the moment it's not for me, I'm tidying up Beccy's sisters laptop and she really wants some sort of protection as her kids use it and she's worried about them clicking on shit that has viruses and malware in. She had Norton, as many new laptops do, which I hate and has now expired.

So, is it worthwhile? Are there free ones that are as good? I'm guessing that once you pay for one of these packages they are free of annoying adverts and are fully featured etc?

So far I've had Norton, AVG (free and paid), McAfee, and now on Kaspersky. In my opinion Kaspersky's the best so far, no problems whatsoever with viruses or owt and it's the least intrusive of the lot too.
I only got it 'cos it was on offer, half price I think!!

I use Avast on my pc and the misses laptop, its free and it doesnt slow the pc down, never had a problem with it and never had a virus etc.
And i know it doesnt slow anything down because her laptop is not a high spec one yet it doesnt slow it down still.

In the 4-5 years ive been using pcs online ive always used a free AV and never had a problem with virus or any other nasties

I have McAfee but only because BT users get it for free, wouldn't bother paying for one if I had no alternative.

Avast is free, use that for your antivirus needs and something like malwarerbytes "anti malware" to get rid of spyware etc. I can give you a serial number for the latter if your wanting to try a full version before you buy.

I use eset (nod32) and it's never let me down, and doesn't slow my pc down. I pay for decent stuff for my pc, as I don't want to either have to re-install when I don't want to, or have my passwords stolen for things like internet banking etc

Trust me pay for Kaspersky Internet Security or the paid version of Avira. As I've said before its like buying a Porsche and fitting a laserline alarm from Argos on it as security.

You can get a license for KIS for £7.50 which will work on upto 3 PC's and download KIS10 from there site and the key works fine. Just remove the KIS10 cd option.

Free recommendations I give is Avira AV and either Outpost Firewall (free version) or Comodo
