Angry stay clear of this car

my mate got me to go from london to leeds yesterday to look at this cosworth

spoke to the guy on the phone and all sounded great he told me there was no problems with this car all by the paint job wasn't the best

well when we got there he wouldn't let us test drive it there was no water in the header tank oil level on min and a massive oil leak under the car started it up and the followers were a little noisey so let it warm up still smoked a bit after warm up but the biggest problem was there was a apparent knocking from number 4 a oil leak from the diff just a dog of a car so left it well alone got back to leeds central station and there were no trains coming back to london so had to get a coach that took 8 hours to get back to gatwick airport then another 1 cab journey home total cost of traveling was £350 just dont want any one else to get stung like this

this is the advert http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1621243.htm

Writing "most of the above meens nothing to me" just after listing the engine spec would set alarm bells ringing!

Sounds like a nightmare journey. And £350 travelling for nothing is a proper wounder!

i only went as my mate wanted me to go and look at it i knew that 380 bhp on that spec was dreaming but he wanted a crystal blue cossy and said that was in his price range, we left to go there at 2:30 yesterday and got back at 6am this morning had to go back out at 9 back to south coast i was not happy but he would have brought it if i hadn't have gone as he doesn't have a clue about cars

i dont think it would have made it either got to love these kinds of people wouldn't even go on a test drive. as i said to my mate better to have lost a little than a lot. think he has got £3800 to spend doesn''t mind doind a bit of work and he doesn't want a massive spec either.

hope its not the same one for the bloke in the other post!! deff a few alarm bells in the advert thou ie him not knowing alot about the spec althou admitedl he does state it was a PX, but it says recent paintwork good but not perfect, which means it was done cheaply to get rid of it by the sounds of it!

well all i can say is good luck to crumpet. as i stated above tho the guy wouldn't let us test drive it even with proof of insurance, the guy selling the car wasn't there only his mate. i didnt lose out at all my mate did in traveling expenses but would sooner spend a little than lose a lot, hope the car last for you. as for wasting his time i was there any hour and said i would leave it and off we went.

How can you say that, the car looks like a fooking shed. You sound like a twat fella. At the end of the day your 19 you've had no "fast cars" so no real knowledge of them or how to look after them so maybe to you it looks like a gem, but to someone you knows what there talking about can see obvious problems.

Anyway goodluck.

I'm sure that was on Ebay within the last month, was listed twice, no mention of it being a part ex on ebay tho, am sure it was said to be his bosses car, or something like that. I've had a look but cant find it on there but I'm sure its been on there within the past month to 6wks.

cheap car, bound to have issues and the seller looses nothing buy saying 'come and see for yourself' as you may just buy it.

As said, to one person it will be one to walk away from, to another they can see potential and grab themselves a car that will fit their budget even if they have to fix a few issues along the line.

Often people are just happy to get it on the drive and then spend £££ fixing ti rather than saving ££££ and buying one in better condition.

Said that the posters mate lost £300 odd notes viewing a car, but happy that the lad that did get it seems chuffed.

Yeah thats what he told me when I rang him and it was on ebay twice for to much money, cheap now tho its no wonder it hasn't sold then.
Christ I was going to travel from Bristol the other week to view this car glad I didn't now, that puts my mind at rest.

it had been on ebay 3 times over the last couple of months, it did look a half decent car in the pictures, as above tho hope your happy with it mate and that it lasts you some time. i have owned 4 cossie's over a bit of time and it had to be one of the worst cars i looked at and i have looked at a lot in my time. but just cos it wasn't for me or my mate doesn't mean it isnt for you. so good luck
