As you said, injectors, injection pumps, starter motors, DMF's, noisey bottom pulley/tensioners.

All expensive to fix unfortunately.

If the choice was a focus or a mondeo, I would choose the focus every time, the 1.8's seem pretty bullet proof and there seem to be less common faults with focus's than mondeos.

Yup injector problems cost a LOT to sort. Either get one and cross your fingers, or get one with them already done (and still cross your fingers!). There are a lot of Mondeos on the road, and only some of them experience issues, but when the TDCi goes wrong, it goes properly wrong.

I love the car when it works well, but I'm doubtful that I'll ever buy another one.

injectors and pumps dont go that often on the 115 bhp, that doesnt mean they never fail cos they do, just not as often as the 130+ bhp cars.

Not as commmon as made out. Think how many were sold.

I had an 03 mondeo tdci 130 ghia x estate for the last 3 years, took it from 30k miles to 72k with no more than tyres, brakes and servicing. Sweet as a nut and a very good car

Injectors and DMF are the problem areas....

Just had 4 new injectors and new Dmf , clutch and slave cylinder.... So hopefully should be perfect now......
