Default plug gaps

just took my cossie out for its first proper spin since i bought it a couple of months ago and when it comes on boost it backfires like foook! i remember the last owner said he replaced the plugs a few days before i bought it as it was choking up as all he ever did was move it in and out of the garage to clean it lol (0 miles covered last year and less than 300 miles in last 3 years) i havnt checked them myself yet but what gap should i set them too, its got stage 3 chip and running greens

Standard ignition system (rotor arm/cap) and 803 dark greens - aim for around 0.65mm

You can also go down to 0.3mm if you wish, I find mine works best all round at 0.5mm, it may not be a spark problem as in the actual gap, coilpack is not the saviour many think it is, many high power yb's on std type coils, a megablaster 2 for example, more power than a coilpack, for less that 1/3 the price, and 10 minutes to change.

well i set them to .6 today and its now spot on boosts great keeps cutting out at junctions when coming to a stop but i dont suppose a 500 rpm tickover is helping that lol so ill give that a tweak tommorow and get my iscv sorted as well as thats unplugged at the mo think there is a problem with cts as valve appears to be working when tested off car and the plug on the car is getting power and a pulsed earth so i presume that is how it should be?

Excuse me for intervening m8s, Tabetha is the blaster 2 coil just a simple replacement for the 4x4 stock coil? No additional electrics involved? Can the standard ignition cables insulation withstand the extra electrical pressure?

thanks a lot.

Thats use to happend yes, i have no problem after fitting Mallory hyfire6, grpA coil and 10mm plug wire. No i run 1.1mm, that makes better spark, use less fuel and runs better.
I have also used msd6a, ho is about the same as Mallory, but not digital.
