Default The strongest & quietest RS turbo gearbox!!

After months of waiting the box is finally done - well nearly.I called to see how it was going on today and took some snaps. Im sick of ripping and blowing up boxes. Straight cut was just to noisy to use on the road so, shot peened aint all its cracked up to be.
See what you think!

Looks like a Quaife gearset for the standard RST box.

Bc boxes aka before christ boxes are a waste of time! ive had a load of hassle with boxes especially second hand boxes and my advice to anyone who doesnt want to waste a load of money is go the mtx route as its a fit and forget jobby! like the old saying goes you cant polish a turd lol

the bearing center is bigger than mtx75, so these wont let me down. Bigger gears & stronger material allow the box to be stronger. Bigger teeth helical cut to make it acceptable on road. the 6 speed [prototype] was built using standard shafts and gears. Before i opted to get these beasts made.
I will add pictures later of the progress and details

If it is expensive a lot of people will still prefer it as it will save chopping the car about and messing with driveshafts etc. There must be a potentially huge (relative in car terms of course) market for these if they can take some hammer.

Well if it costs sub Ł1000 it would be worth it, cos a Stage 2+ CTS box (shot peened late BC box) it about Ł1800 with a Quaife ATB, if it's stronger than those then all good!

They use special custom forks (heavy duty), syncro rings (not dog engagement) shafts have extra oil ways for better lube, gears run on rollers etc etc etc and it has an ATB diff.
Ł2450

MAY SOUND ALOT BUT AFTER 3 BOXES IN MINE SO FAR ITS NOT

It's just too much for most of us though fella, a CTS Stage 2+ will never be broken by 99% of us!
But I spose for the 300bhp+ boys it could be a good investment if you dont want to hack your car about and fit a MTX?

Whats your spec and BHP 2ndGear?

there's more to just cuting the car to fit a st170 box you'v got the speedo/ hydraulic clutch/ flywheel and for a bolt up bit of kit that dont sound to bad but id like to see it proven on a 400+bhp car first

If I have box trouble, I'd buy it if I knew it was going to put up with the grief.

As above......if you were breaking stage 2+'s at Ł1800 a chuck (which a few have) then why would an extra Ł650 seem so ridiculous if it actually did the business?? It is indeed a LOT of wedge and i would also have to see it tested in some proper cars before shelling out but could be another option, certainly an easier one in terms of installation!

deffinitely. I'd buy it for ease of fitting and the fact it could take the abuse (once we know it can). No cutting up the inner wing then.

2nd gear, would straight cut be the same price? We really need to know how much power has been put through one of these.

Isn't the BC gearbox casing itself another inherant weakness though? Prone to flexing due to the lack of webbing causing bearing failure?

That said those gears do look good. I recently stripped my Quaife straight cut box down and the gears are so well made and strong looking. Difference to the standard gears I had lying about was night and day.

i would be very interested in seeing what this can handle

would be alot for me to change back to a bc box but i really dont wanna cut the wing
so would be worth the expense if it can handle the power / torque
