Well that was a close shave.....had a heart attack at 26 !!!
Just thought i would post this up as a reminder of how lucky some of us are.......
On Monday night i felt rather rough and went to bed about 9pm...I couldnt sleep at all through out the night and felt like someone had been standing on my chest all night....
Anyway got up and went to work on the Tuesday...Struggled to walk up the stairs at the station and felt really rough...
My boss came in about 10am and we jokingly said i must be having a heart attack
..about an hour later i said i really need to get this looked at as felt no better.
So off i went to the Drop in Centre locally...
Met the triage nurse and had an ECG, she left the room and came back with 2 doctors and said we need to put you in an Ambulance NOW and straight to hospital.
to say i was shtting my self is an understatment.
They gave me a GTD tablet that slows your heart and thins your blood, put me on oxygen and off i went....
Had 4 blood samples taken for tests in the ambulance and 2 more ECGS. Which showed it wasnt as bad as the nurse thought as she had the sensors out a tiny bit but still had a minor heart attack not a Major one that she shit the life out of me with.
Had further chest x rays and CT scans which later showed up i had a small blood clot on my lungs which cuased my heart to have issues.
So after a night in hospital and various blood thinin injections the clot has nwo gone and i am back to work....
But just makes you think that a heathly 26 yo who plays football 4 days a week could never have anything like that.
Really should stop partying as hard as i do

Anyway scare over and i am back in the game but if anyone has any chest pains i strongly recommend getting it looked at and dont be a hero

The doctors said it could just be one of those things....which doesnt help me BUT my lifestyle definately didnt help...so need to sort it out lol.....
and no further treatment needed as the clot has gone but if i notice any change i need to go A+E straight away.

Your lucky mate, maybe a change in lifestyle could help. I know a lad who had a stroke two weeks ago and he is 23. Scared the life out of me, glad your better and hopefully you`ll be with us a while longer
I used to play saturday & sunday football, untill I had half my left thigh removed due to skin cancer!
when I was on top form, it killed my nights out as I never wanted to be hung over / knackered for a match!

And the weekend before that had an 18 hour drinking session in Brighton then played a match at 12pm

The human body isn't as strong as people think.
Friend of mine has had 2 heart attacks, one aged 20 and another at 22. He's always kick the shit out of it though, binge drinking, coffee, red bull and smoking.
When you're young you sometimes feel invincible, but the truth is far from it.
Glad you're ok though, never a nice feeling when the docs make urgent calls to the ambulance. Time to make some changes now you have your second chance.
