The coilpack on my Focus 2.0 ('02) has started to fail. I replace it for an escort zetec item which has the same connector and it runs sweet now. Just needed the leads too to get it installed. It wont fit at the focus bracket so I'll think I need the escort bracket as well.

But my question is can this swap do any damage to the Focus PCM (ECU)?

 

I would only guess that the resistance is going to be very similar across the coilpacks, in which case it's fine, as it's that that will hurt the ecu if anything.

Thanks Tabetha, that's what I thought too . What I have heard is that when using bad sparkplugs or HT leads the high voltage would damage the inside of the Focus coilpack. Something that I have never heard about the old Zetec ones.

So now I made up the Focus bracket so that it can have the old zetec coilpack. Bloody hard to do... The best thing you can do is find yourself a old zetec bracket. At this both old and new coilpacks will fit!

 

The problem whit this first kind of coilpack, is that to big plug gaps, break them. The newer ones are better. I have change alot of this

 

Do you mean the first ones that came with the Focus?
