cold tyres i reckon. we have to give at least 2 laps at full pace to get our tyres upto temp!

Its a terrible shame and a cautionary tale for all .
the cars new owner took his ARDs test very recently , he had never driven a race car before.
He had never driven on slick racing tyres,he had never driven a powerful RWD car or one with a Sequential gearbox !
He then entered a very experienced GT class as his 1st event with out being able to test or even shakedown the car .

I Did not sell this car ,thats another story but not one i will tell here .
the new owner is a nice guy and came straight to me for parts ,wheels ,tyres and various other bits ,its only when i met him on Friday that i learnt he was a complete novice and sadly that lack of experience has give him a very steep learning curve .
hope it repairs ok as its a good car .

i remember my first race ever i was at croft and lost it on the first lap flat out on the Jim Clark esses, ended up in the middle of the ploughed field, luckily only my pride was damaged.

Was a lovely car and one of the best Sierra racecars around. I really hope he gets it fixed soon and then heads for some driver training or airfield training days. Amazing the number of people who think they can jump straight into a 300+hp racecar and expect to 'learn as they go along'. I worry about my own safety when racing with these kind of people and always expect them to do the unexpected. I would always advise someone to spend a couple of seasons in hot hatch or PBMW to find their feet. Much safer for everyone all round.

 

is the the same car that was featured in eithr performance ford or fast ford only a few months ago?

 

Yeah, I took pics but I can't bring myself to look, and haven't posted the pics yet. I will do this week I think.

Damage on my car was not too bad but I'm pretty embarassed at making a stupid mistake.

yeah i see yours earlier mate,those chassis leg ends need sorting as they are well bent!!!
Imo you cant leave them like that..
Luckily the wings and top panel have escaped but the front cross member and chassis legs are a mess..if it wasnt caged the shell would be fucked..

shame, but it is very easy to do, ive done it, you get your racing head on and forget everything needs that bit longer, then all of a sudden, wheels are locked up, or your doing a big old 360, its bloody scary too
